WATERVILLE, Maine – The No. 21 Connecticut College men's swimming and diving team earned its second dual meet win of the holiday weekend, downing Colby College by a 167-127 final on Monday afternoon at the Aquatics Center at the Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center.

The Camels trailed after the first seven events but fought their way back behind some strong individual swims. Conn posted nine first-place finishes on the day, including two apiece for Carrick Shea (Grafton, Mass.), Evan Lyons (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Cam Bizjak (Willoughby, Ohio).

Colby opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay and wrested the momentum early, outscoring Conn in six of the first seven events. Lyons and Shea provided highlights with wins in the 1,000 free (9:45.35) and 100 breast (56.21), respectively, but the Camels trailed 77-54 by the midway point of the swimming events.

Conn made up the deficit—and then some—over the back half of the meet. The Camels outscored the Mules in seven of the next eight events and got full points in diving thanks to Bizjak, Landon Luzak (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Lelan Jacheo (West Haven, Conn.).

Shea set the tone by winning the 100 free (46.04) by more than half a second. Matthew Morris (Alexandria, Va.), Dawson Rice (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Ryan Karaca (Schenectady, N.Y.) then swept the top spots in the 200 back for maximum points, with Morris (1:55.42) winning by more than two seconds.

Julian Carlson (Brookline, Mass.) (2:07.76) and Shea (2:10.57) went one-two in the 200 breast as the Camels continued to pour it on. Campbell Noel (Austin, Texas) then touched first in the 500 free (4:43.76) while Lyons (4:12.27) and Carlson (4:18.24) went one-two in the 400 IM.

Bizjak took first place in both the 3M (272.40) and 1M (279.60) diving competitions. Luzak finished runner-up in the 3M (196.12) while Jacheo took second in the 1M (229.05).

Conn (6-0 overall) returns to the pool at Holy Cross on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m.
