HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's basketball team fell by a 77-62 final against Trinity College on Friday night in a NESCAC showdown at Oosting Gymnasium.
Trinity shot 51 percent for the game and went 9-for-16 from long range to improve to 15-5 overall (4-2 NESCAC). Melissa Whitmore led the charge with a game-high 18 points to go with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Mia Xerras (Charlotte, N.C.) paced the Camels with 15 points and shot 3-for-6 from deep.
Lusine Hagopian (North Providence, R.I.) added a season-high 11 points off the bench and connected on all three of her three-point attempts.
The Bantams led from start to finish, outscoring the Camels 12-6 in the opening quarter and 39-23 in the first half. Xerras, who had eight points at the break, added seven more in the final 3:30 of the third quarter, and Conn trailed 57-44 heading into the fourth.
The Camels failed to make up any ground over the final 10 minutes. Hagopian netted all 11 of her points in the second half, including eight in the fourth quarter alone.
Conn (11-8 overall, 2-4 NESCAC) will next play at Wesleyan University on Saturday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m.
