Sailing Competes at Three Regattas

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing teams returned to action, racing in three regattas, the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1 B, the Danmark Trophy, and the Moody Trophy.

At the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1 B at Bowdoin, Conn finished 10th out of 17 teams across two racing divisions on 189 points. Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.) skippered the A boat the whole weekend, while Tattie Gibbs and Alex Daigle (East Falmouth, Mass.) shared the crew duties, as the Camels recorded 89 points. The B division boat totaled 100 points, with Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.) skippering, while Daigle and Gibbs split the crew work.

At the Moody Trophy hosted by Rhode Island, Conn put two boats out for racing, finishing eighth and 13th out of 17 teams. The Camels first boat finished eighth on 173 points across two racing divisions. The A division scored 115 points, and featured Rory Murray (Nantucket, Mass.), Madeline Synnestvedt (Cohasset, Mass.), and Keegan Chatburn (Lake Forest, Ill.), while the B division boat finished second on 58 points, with Wells Connor (Darien, Conn.) and Sienna Young (Westport, Conn.) teaming up in the boat. Conn's second boat recorded 122 points in the A division boat featuring Leif Carlson (Atlanta, Ga.) and Lyra Monaco (Guilford, Conn.), while the B division boat had Jeremiah McCarthy, Wyatt Tauber (New York, N.Y.), and Liam Boukris (Huntington Beach, Calif.) scoring 134 points.

The final regatta Conn raced at was the Danmark Trophy hosted by Coast Guard. Conn finished 18th out of 19 teams on 292 points across two racing divisions. Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Vivian Smith (Hasting-on-Hudson, N.Y.) tallied 147 points in the A division, while William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine) tallied 145 points in the B division.

Conn returns to action next weekend, hosting the Stu Nelson at Kohn Waterfront, and racing at St. Mary's (Md.) and Salve Regina.
