NEW LONDON, Conn. – Elizabeth Bonner (Westfield, N.J.) netted the game-winning goal as the Connecticut College field hockey team earned a 1-0 overtime win over Trinity College on Wednesday night in NESCAC action at Silfen Field.
Bonner's golden goal came midway through the first overtime period to give the Camels their first league victory of the season. She won a ball from a Trinity defender eight yards from the cage and quickly unleashed a shot, beating the goalie to the pad side for her first tally of the season.
Conn's defense was strong all night. The Camels killed off 10 penalty corners in the contest, and goalie Isabella Carnall (Malvern, Pa.) finished with seven saves to earn her first shutout of the year.
Trinity, which dropped to 5-6 overall (1-6 NESCAC), owned a 12-5 shot advantage through 60 minutes of regulation. Goalie Sydney Korkosz recorded three saves in the setback.
Conn (3-6 overall, 1-6 NESCAC) will next host Bates College on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m.
