NEW LONDON, Conn – Sydney Frank (Stillwater, N.Y.) tallied two goals, while Casey Chesner (Great Falls, Va.) added a goal and an assist as the Connecticut College women's ice hockey team bounced back with a 5-2 win over Johnson and Wales on Tuesday night from Dayton Arena.
Johnson and Wales opened the scoring just 4:11 into the contest, as Jordan Hopping took a pass and fired home to make it 1-0. Conn continued their pressure and eventually extended the lead to 3-1 at 16:58. Chesner put a shot towards the goal that bounced around before falling to Alana Burm (Hingham, Mass.) to send the Camels into the third period in front 3-1.
JWU did not go away quietly and started the final period on the front foot, eventually cutting the deficit to one. Allyson Barry sprung Grace Adams on a breakaway, who scored to make it 3-2 at 9:05.
Just three minutes later, Conn pushed the lead back to two, as Frank notched her second goal, off assists from Olivia Fagan (White Plains, N.Y.) and Maya Lileika (Fairfield, Conn.). With just under a minute remaining, Chesner fired a puck on goal that bounced off a Wildcat skate and in, to give the Camels the 5-2 win.
