ORLANDO, Fla. — The Connecticut College women's tennis earned a 5-2 victory over Midland University on Thursday afternoon at the USTA National Campus.
After taking the doubles point, the Camels added four straight-sets wins in singles to secure the match. The win was Conn's first of the Florida trip and second of the spring season.
The Camels set the tone in doubles, claiming victories on courts one and three. The top duo of
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) and
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) posted a 6-4 win while
Teagan Skulley (Middleton, Mass.) and
Evin Cosar (Shrewsbury, Mass.) cruised 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles, Kowalska was sharp on the top court, rolling past Graziela Dallagnol by a 6-2, 6-2 final.
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) delivered a straight-sets victory at No. 3, 7-6, 6-3, and the duo of
Nicolette Baksay (Colonia, N.J.) and Skulley closed the door with decisive wins—Baksay 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5, and Skulley 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
Conn (3-5 overall) will wrap up its spring trip with matches against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Franklin and Marshall College on Sunday, March 15.
