NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing teams had a dominant weekend, picking up victories at both the Staake Trophy hosted by Boston University and the CGA J70 Invite, while also finishing fifth at the Boston College team race.
At the Staake Trophy, Conn finished tied with Rhode Island, as both teams won 11 of 13 races, however, the Camels earned the tiebreaker, beating the Rams twice in head-to-head competition. William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.), Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.), and Skylor Sweet (Bear, Del.) skippered the three boats, while Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine), Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) and Madeline Synnestvedt (Cohasset, Mass.) rounded out the crews.
At Coast Guard, Conn put together a dominant performance, finishing in the top-three of 11 of 13 races contested, while also winning seven of those races. Overall, the Camels tallied 31 points, to finish 11 points ahead of Webb Institute in second place. Maxwell Connor (Darien, Conn.) skippered the boat for Conn, while Caroline McClain (Winnetka, Ill.), Keegan Chatburn (Lake Forest, Ill.), and Duncan Craine (Weston, Conn.) were a part of the crew.
At Boston College, Conn finished tied for fifth. Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.), Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.), Alex Daigle (East Falmouth, Mass.), and Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.) shared the skipper duties, while Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.), Sienna Young (Westport, Conn.), June Roe (New Rochelle, N.Y.), and Daigle rounded out the crews.
Conn returns to action next weekend, hosting the Vietor Trophy at Kohn Waterfront and traveling to MIT and Roger Williams.
