MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — The Connecticut College women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 4 Wesleyan University on Saturday morning at Bacon Field House.
The Cardinals swept doubles to secure the opening point. The Camels put up a strong fight at the top spot, where
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) and
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) battled before falling 4-6 to Leila Epstein and Lucinda Gatsiounis. Wesleyan also took courts two and three by 6-0 and 6-1 margins, respectively.
In singles, Wesleyan closed out the match with straight-set wins across all six courts. The tightest contest came at No. 3, where
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) pushed the first set to a tiebreak before ultimately dropping a 6-7, 4-6 result to Lara Afolayanka.
Conn (4-6 overall, 0-3 NESCAC) will next host Tufts University on Friday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.
