NEW LONDON, Conn. — Connecticut College opened conference play on Saturday morning at Luce Field House, falling 7-0 to nationally ranked No. 10 Middlebury College.
The Panthers secured the doubles point with a trio of 6-2 wins and carried momentum into singles to complete the sweep. Middlebury improved 2-0 overall (1-0 NESCAC) on the season.
In singles,
Nikhil Agarwal (San Mateo, Calif.) battled at the top spot but came up short against Noah Lewis, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 2,
Wolf Sohlberg (Espoo, Finland) pushed the opening set to a tiebreak before falling by a 7-6, 6-0 final.
Noa Hoshino (Tokyo, Japan) also put up a fight at No. 3, taking a combined six games off Hugh Hentschel.
Conn (2-2 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) will next host Williams College on Sunday, March 8 at 9:30 a.m.
