NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Connecticut College women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 6 Middlebury College in its NESCAC opener on Saturday afternoon at Luce Field House.
Middlebury earned the doubles point with wins at all three spots, though the Camels were especially competitive on court three.
Evin Cosar (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) traded blows with Elsie Van Wieren and Diya Pachamuthu before the Panthers closed it out, 7-5. At No. 1,
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) and
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) fell 6-4 to Lulu Wu and Gusty Beveridge, while
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) and
Teagan Skulley (Middletown, Mass.) were topped 6-0 at No. 2 by Ren Barton and Anna Lardner.
In singles, Middlebury swept all six matches in straight sets.
Nicolette Baksay (Colonia, N.J.) won a combined five games at the No. 5 spot to lead the Camels.
Conn (2-2 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) will next host Williams College on Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m.
