NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Connecticut College women's tennis team secured a pair wins against nationally ranked No. 20 Williams but fell 6-1 on Sunday afternoon inside Luce Field House.
Conn picked up a win in doubles at the No. 3 position, where
Asahi Goods (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and
Marylove Reynolds (Little Rock, Ark.) posted a 6-3 victory over Julia Zhang and Ahn Lin. Williams, however, claimed the doubles point with wins at the top two flights, defeating
Maya Kowalska (Feasterville-Trevose, Pa.) and
Mary Ella Prendergast (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) 6-2 at No. 1 and blanking
Lily Kerachsky (East Greenwich, R.I.) and
Teagan Skulley (Middletown, Mass.) 6-0 at No. 2.
In singles, Kowalska delivered the Camels' lone point with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Zhang at No. 1. The Ephs captured the remaining courts in straight sets: Zoe Yao topped Prendergast 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2; Mia Thomann defeated Kerachsky 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3; Ayanna Varma prevailed 6-4, 6-2 over Goods at No. 4; Ellie Stark got past
Nicolette Baksay (Colonia, N.J.) 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5; and Jane Ladaga closed the match with a 6-2, 6-2 result over
Sydney Concepcion (Long Beach, Calif.) at No. 6.
Conn (2-3 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) opens its spring break trip in Florida with a match against Ohio Northern University on March 11 at 11:00 a.m.
