Sailing Races at NEISA Fleet Race Championships

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing teams returned to action racing in three regattas at Brown, Coast Guard, and MIT.

At the NEISA Open Fleet Race Championships, Conn finished seventh out of 18 teams.  Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) teamed up in the A division boat, recording 80 points to finish sixth. The B division boat finished seventh, scoring 89 points, as William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine) raced together.

At the Boston Dinghy Challenge Cup hosted by MIT, Conn finished eight out of 17 teams across three racing divisions, totaling 202 points, and coming up one point behind Rhode Island in seventh. Rory Murray (Nantucket, Mass.) and Grace Popp (Greenwich, Conn.) teamed up in the A division boat, finishing tied for sixth with Roger Williams on 64 points. Four Camels worked together in the B division boat to finish eighth with 77 points, as Keegan Chatburn (Lake Forest, Ill.), Maxwell Connor (Darien, Conn.), Finley Regan (Bay Shore, N.Y.), and Griffin Stead (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) did the sailing. Duncan Craine (Weston, Conn.) raced by himself in the final racing division, tallying 61 points to finish sixth in the C division.

At the NEISA Women's Fleet Race Championship, Conn finished 13th scoring 255 points across two racing divisions. Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.), Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.), and Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.) teamed up in the A division boat, finishing 14th with 143 points. The B division boat of Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.) and Alex Daigle (East Falmouth, Mass.) had more success, notching 112 points to claim ninth place.

Conn returns to action next weekend, for the final two races of the regular season, traveling to the University of Rhode Island and the Merchant Marine Academy.
