NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing teams returned to action, racing in three regattas on the weekend. Conn finished third at the Southern 5 Saturday hosted by Rhode Island, fourth at Emily Wick at Kohn Waterfront, and 12th at the Fowle Trophy hosted by Brown.
At Rhode Island, Conn finished third out of eight teams, scoring 82 points across two racing divisions. The A boat topped their division with 30 points, as Maxwell Connor (Darien, Conn.) skippered the boat, with Grace Popp (Greenwich, Conn.) and Isaac Kaldor (East Greenwich, R.I.) rounded out the crew. Joseph Whelan (New London, Conn.) skippered the B boat, with Finley Regan (Bay Shore, N.Y.) also in the boat, as they scored 52 points.
At Emily Wick, the Camels finished fourth out of 15 teams, tallying 157 points across two racing divisions. The A boat totaled 96 points, with Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.) and Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.) sailing the boat. The B boat of Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.) and Alex Daigle (East Falmouth, Mass.) topped their division with 61 points, winning three separate races.
At the Fowle Trophy, Conn finished 12th, winning one of 11 races. William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.), Skylor Sweet (Bear, Del.), and Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) skippered the three boats, while Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine), Tatem Gee (Burlingame, Calif.), Maddie Synnestvedt (Cohasset, Mass.), and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) rounded out the crews.
Conn returns to action next weekend, racing at MIT and at Coast Guard.
