ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Connecticut College women's sailing team came up just short of reaching the ICSA Championship finals, finishing 11th in the Eastern Semifinals with 210 points.
Conn started slowly on day one, but rebounded with some strong finishes down the stretch to end the opening day in 10th place, just 17 points out of ninth place, and a spot in the finals.
The Camels cut the gap to ninth place to seven early on day two, before falling behind by 24 points with one round of racing left. The A division boat of Natalie Fear (New York, N.Y.) and Maddie Jarbeau (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished in second place in their final race, while Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.) and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) finished fifth to score a combined seven points. However, Conn came up just short and missed out on a spot in the finals by just five points.
The women's sailing teams season comes to a close with their first appearance at the ICSA Championships since 2023. The coed team opens up action on the ICSA Championships on Tuesday for day one of their semifinal racing.
