ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Connecticut College coed sailing team returned to the ICSA Open Fleet Race Finals for the first time since 2022 and finished 13th with 318 points.
Conn started strong, sitting in seventh place on 30 points after two rounds of racing. The A division boat of Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) finished their first two races in seventh and 10th, with the B division boat of William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine) started with a seventh and sixth place finish.
The Camels stayed consistent throughout the remainder of day one, but found themselves in 13th place heading into day two. Conn began to chip away at the gap to 12th place St. Mary's (Md.) and cut the deficit to six heading into the B division's 12th race. Unfortunately, the Camels weren't able to get any closer, as Conn finished the championships in 13th.
Conn's season comes to a close with both teams qualifying for the finals in the same year for the first time since 2023.
