MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Connecticut College field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision at No. 5 Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon at Peter Kohn Field.
The Panthers scored less than a minute into the contest and added another goal before the end of the half, both off the stick of Emma McCann. Middlebury carried the 2-0 margin to the finish and improved to 2-0 (1-0 NESCAC) on the season.

Isabella Carnall (Malvern, Pa.) finished with six saves to keep Conn close.
Maddie Mason (Brentwood, N.H.) also contributed three defensive saves in the contest.
Middlebury earned a penalty corner just 46 seconds into the game and promptly converted. McCann fired a shot off a defender's stick that spun back over the goal line for the early 1-0 advantage.
The Panthers added the second goal with 5:09 left in the half off another penalty corner, one of 14 in the game for the hosts. After inserting the ball and then crashing the front of the cage, McGann tipped a shot by Megan Fuqua and redirected it past Carnall for the 2-0 cushion.
Conn (1-2 overall, 0-2 NESCAC) returns to action at Tufts University on Saturday, September 19 at noon.
