NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College sailing teams returned to action for a busy weekend of racing, competing at both open and women NEISA Singlehanded Championships, as well as at Boston University and MIT.
At the NEISA Singlehanded Championships, Conn finished 14th and 16th in the open division and 11th in the women's division. In the open division, Henry Scholz (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished 14th with 141 points, just one point behind Roger Williams and Yale who finished in a tie for 12th. Joining Scholz in the open division was Leif Carlson (Atlanta, Ga.) who finished 16th with 162 points. In the women's division, Caroline McClain (Winnetka, Ill.) finished 11th with 114 points.
At the Regis Trophy hosted by Boston University, Conn finished third out of 17 teams, scoring 122 points across two racing divisions. The A division boat of Julia Scipione (Hingham, Mass.) and Alex Daigle (East Falmouth, Mass.) recorded 65 points, while Lily Saffer (Rye, N.Y.) and Grace Popp (Greenwich, Conn.) teamed up in the B division boat scoring 57 points.
At the Hatch Brown Trophy hosted by MIT, Conn finished 11th out of 16 teams with 213 points across three racing divisions. The A division boat featured William Hurd (West Dennis, Mass.) and Charlotte McDonald (Portland, Maine) finished 12th with 82 points. The B division boat of Rory Murray (Nantucket, Mass.) and Vivian Smith (Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) finished fifth with 61 points, while the C division boat finished 10th with 70 points, as Wells Connor (Darien, Conn) and Madeline Synnestvedt (Cohasset, Mass.) teamed up in the boat.
Conn returns to action next weekend as the Camels travel to Dartmouth for the Women's Atlantic Coast Qualifiers, Brown for the Open Atlantic Coast Qualifiers, and to Rhode Island for a third regatta.
