NEW LONDON, Conn. – Women's track & field thrower Koko Mensah and men's ice hockey goalie Connor Rodericks were among the student-athletes who were presented with major awards at the 2019-20 Connecticut College Senior Student-Athlete Awards Banquet on Saturday afternoon.
The event, which was held virtually and viewed live through a Zoom webinar as well as the brand new Connecticut College Athletics YouTube channel, celebrated the achievements of the senior class over the past four years and recognized seven student-athletes with major awards. In addition to Mensah and Rodericks, other awards were given to inspirational women's soccer captain Zoë Stublarec, men's basketball student assistant coach Ken Colombe, men's ice hockey goalie Avery Gobbo, and women's soccer standouts Alyssa Kogelmann and Sara Kogelmann.
Connecticut College Major Award Winners
Anita L. DeFrantz Award (Top Female Student-Athlete): Koko Mensah (Track & Field)
Established in 1995 by Kathryn Smith '84 and given to the female member of the graduating class whose athletic ability, leadership, and sportsmanship best exemplify the qualities of Olympic medalist Anita L. DeFrantz '74.

Tammy Brown Award (Top Female Scholar-Athlete): Alyssa Kogelmann (Soccer) & Sara Kogelmann (Soccer)
Established by the class of 1984 and given to the outstanding female student-athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership, and sportsmanship.
James Brooks Award (Top Male Scholar-Athlete): Avery Gobbo (Ice Hockey)
Established by the class of 1984 and given to the outstanding male student-athlete who best represents the graduating class in scholarship, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Erica M. Bos Award (Inspiration): Zoë Stublarec (Soccer)
Established in 1990 to honor an athlete whose courage, motivation, and relentless determination serve as an inspiration to others.
Andrew H. Chait Award (Service): Ken Colombe (Basketball)
Established in 1986 to honor a member of the College community who has shown outstanding service and commitment to the Connecticut College Department of Athletics.
