Women’s Soccer Extends Shutout Streak To More Than 600 Minutes In Scoreless Deadlock With Johnson & Wales

By Sam Maidenberg '23

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Connecticut College women's soccer team played the Johnson & Wales Wildcats to a 0-0 draw on Monday night. After 110 minutes, the sides could not be separated, resulting in the sixth consecutive shutout for the Camels and equating to a streak of 603 minutes and 40 seconds without conceding a goal.

Both teams came into the game on good form, as the tie ended the Camels four-game win streak, while extending their unbeaten run to six. Similarly, the Wildcats seven-game win streak came to an end against the Camels, and they extended their unbeaten run to nine.

The game was a relatively even affair with both sides threatening to break the deadlock on multiple occasions. While the Camels outshot their opponent, 16-13, Johnson & Wales (10-3-1) had six shots on goal to the Camels' four. Conn edged its opponent with four corner kicks to three, as offensive statistics were almost even, indicating a fair result.

Overtime, however, told a slightly different story, as the Wildcats outshot the Camels 6-3 and threatened a golden-goal winner throughout the 20 minutes of sudden-death soccer.

Connecticut College goalkeeper Sarah Hall (Tualatin, Ore.) stood firm for the Camels, registering six saves. The sophomore was credited with her sixth clean sheet of the season, bringing her total up to six in eight appearances and starts this fall. For the opposing Wildcats, Carly McCrumb was also credited with a clean sheet after making four saves throughout the game.

Connecticut College (7-1-2) will next head up to Maine for a NESCAC clash with Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
