CLINTON, N.Y. - Following two overtimes and 110 minutes of play, the Connecticut College women's soccer team tied Hamilton College by a score of 0-0 on Sunday afternoon at Love Field.
The game remained scoreless through the first half despite the Camels having several great scoring opportunities. One chance came on a nice through ball into the six-yard box, just to be stopped by a slide tackle by a Hamilton defender in front of her keeper, Zoe Katz. Another major chance was on a lofty-headed ball on target again into the six-yard box that was deflected out of bounds by Katz.
The second half was more of the same with both teams battling for possession throughout. With under a minute left in regulation, Connecticut College sophomore goalkeeper
Sarah Hall (Tualatin, Ore.) made possibly her most important of 13 saves on the day, denying Hyla Mosher of tapping in a big cross in near the net.
The two overtimes periods, each ten minutes in length, went quickly. Despite Connecticut College junior
Mya Johnson's (Old Lyme, Conn.) relentless pressure, and game-leading nine shots, the game remained scoreless until the end.
Hamilton (4-0-2, NESCAC 3-0-2) led in total shots, 34-23, shots on net, 13-10, and corners, 8-5. Between the posts, Hall made 13 saves and Hamilton's Katz stopped 10 shots.
Connecticut College (3-1-1, NESCAC 2-1-1) will next face off against Middlebury at home on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.
