HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's soccer team fell on the road to NESCAC foe Trinity College, 3-0 on Tuesday night in Hartford, Conn. With the loss, Conn falls to 4-5-0 overall and 0-5-0 in NESCAC play, while Trinity improves to 5-2-3 overall and 3-1-2 in conference play.
Conn (4-5-0, 0-5-0) tallied the first shot of the game, as Clare Mulvihill (West Caldwell, N.J.) forced a save from Mariana Cournoyer. Trinity (5-2-3, 3-1-2) answered with their first shot of the contest at 13:56, but the shot went wide. The Camels finished the first half with three of the last four shots, but the teams were scoreless at the break.
Conn started the second half with an early shot by Camille Cortes (Annandale, Va.), but her effort was turned aside by Cournoyer. However, it was Trinity that opened the scoring with 30 minutes left, on a goal from Katelyn Charette. The Bantams doubled the lead at 66:06, on a goal from Elena Lindonen. Lindonen added a second goal at 74:48 as the Bantams came away with a 3-0 win.
Conn held the edge on overall shots 13-11 and on corners 2-1, while Trinity held the advantage on shots on target 6-5.
Nici Scola (Braintree, Mass.) got the start in goal and made three saves on six shots. Mya Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) led the Camels with four shots and two on target, while Ella Gazo (Colchester, Vt.) added three shots and one on target.
Cournoyer finished with five saves between the sticks for Trinity. Lindonen paced the Bantams attack, tallying five points on two goals and one assist, while Charette added one goal.
Conn returns home to take on No. 7 Williams on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. on Freeman Field.
