Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Koubel's Tally Leads Women's Soccer Past Hamilton 1-0

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's soccer snapped a three-game losing streak, taking down NESCAC foe Hamilton College 1-0 on Saturday from Freeman Field. With the win, Conn improves to 5-6 on the year, and 2-4 in conference play, while Hamilton falls to 5-4-2 overall and 2-4-2 in conference action.

Conn started strongly, recording the first six shots of the contest. Ella Davidyock (Newtown, Pa.) forced three saves, while Clare Mulvihill (West Caldwell, N.J.) forced a fourth. Hamilton finally recorded their first shot just under 30 minutes in, but Ella Kahrl (Wellesley, Mass.) was ready, making the save.

The Continentals recorded the next two shots, with Kahrl adding another save. The game looked as if it was going to be scoreless at the break, but with just over three minutes left, the Camels found some magic. Ella Gazo (Colchester, Vt.) got past her defender on the wing, crossing a ball into the box, where Chloe Koubel (Westbury, N.Y.) connected, firing into the top of the net to make it 1-0.

The second half was a defensive battle, as Conn looked to hold onto the 1-0 lead. The Camels recorded an early shot from Mulvihill, before Kahrl came up with another big save to preserve the lead.

Hamilton was only able to generate one more shot, coming in the 54th minute, but the effort was blocked. Conn did a great job of holding possession to keep it away from the Continentals down the stretch, to come away with the 1-0 win.

Conn outshot Hamilton 10-5 overall, including 7-3 on shots on target, while holding a -5 edge on corner kicks.

Kahrl was fantastic in goal, recording the clean sheet with three saves. Koubel tallied the lone marker, while Gazo added an assist. Davidyock added three shots on target, with Lexi Gudaitis (Topsfield, Mass.), Blessing Kieh (Monrovia, Liberia), and Mulvihill all added one.

Nieve Tonna got the start in goal, making five saves on six shots. Haley Cramer, Isabel Harvey, and Erin Rayhill all recorded one shot.

Conn returns to action next week, as the Camels host Bates College for Senior Day at 11:30 a.m. on Freeman Field.
