NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's soccer earned a 1-1 draw with visiting Trinity College on Tuesday night from Silfen Field. With the draw, Conn moves to 5-7-1 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play, while Trinity moves to 2-8-3 overall and 0-5-3 in the NESCAC.
It was a back-and-forth first half, but it was Trinity that recorded the first shots on target. The Bantams put the first four efforts on goal, but Ella Kahrl (Wellesley, Mass.) turned all of them aside. Conn answered with the final three shots of the half, with Zola Alcaro (Norwell, Mass.) coming closest to goal, forcing a save from Lily Bracken, but the game remained scoreless at the break.
Conn started the second half strong, as Chloe Koubel (Westbury, N.Y.) forced an early save from Bracken. With just under 13 minutes remaining, the Camels found the opening goal. Koubel did well to win the ball along the sidelines, laying it off to Blessing Kieh (Monrovia, Liberia), who found Clare Mulvihill (West Caldwell, N.J.) at the edge of the box. Mulvihill rifled a shot that snuck under the crossbar to make it 1-0 at 77:31.
However, Trinity found an equalizer just under two minutes later. The Bantams were awarded a throw-in when Elena Lindonen crossed into the box, connecting with the head of Alyssa Keane who tied the game at one. Conn pushed for the winning goal over the final 10 minutes, but was unable to, as the game ended 1-1.
Conn outshot Trinity 12-10 overall, but the Bantams held a 7-6 edge on shots on goal, while also holding a 7-6 advantage on corner kicks.
Kahrl had a strong game in goal, recording six saves. Mulvihill recorded the lone Camels goal, with Kieh picking up the assist.
Bracken made four saves in goal for the Bantams, while Keane tallied the lone marker and Lindonen added an assist.
Conn heads out on the road for the final time, heading to Williamstown, Mass. to take on Williams College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
