Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.—The Connecticut College and Hamilton College men's soccer teams battled to a 2-2 draw in a NESCAC match played on Tempel Green Saturday.
The Camels move to 2-1-2 with a 0-1-2 record in the NESCAC. The Continentals fall to 1-2-2 with a 0-1-2 mark in league play.
Trevor Bobola (Jamestown, R.I.) and Dan Kraynak (Hamilton, N.Y.) scored first half goals for the visitors. Billy Hawkey (Pennington, N.J.) and Weller Hlinomaz (New York, N.Y.) supplied scores for the Camels.
Rookie net-minder Harris Pollack (Chappaqua, N.Y.) made six saves for the visitors. Senior Max Nichols (Mill Valley, Calif.) stopped three shots for the hosts.
Hamilton opened the scoring in the seventh minute of action when Kraynak delivered a through ball down the right sideline to Bobola who was able to find some open real estate at the far post side of the goal with his 16 yard blast. Later on in the 16th minute of action, Kraynak extended the Continental lead to two when he scored at the 18 yard line with the assist coming from Ethan Kelly (Niskayuna, N.Y.).
But the Camels stormed back. In the 22nd minute of action, Billy Hawkey netted his team leading fifth goal of the season. Dillon Kerr (West Roxbury, Mass.) set Hawkey up with a nice feed that led the forward to the goal near the top of the box.
In the second stanza, first year forward Weller Hlinomaz supplied the equalizer with 26 minute to play. Hlinomaz hit the crossbar with his first shot but he finished the play, pouncing on the rebound to put in the equalizer.
The Camels had numerous chances in the second half where they held a sizable 13-to-5 advantage in shots.
But Hamilton kept the barn door shut. Hawkey had a shot in the opening minute of the first overtime but Pollack was able to come away with the save. Kraynak nearly ended the game with 7:54 to play but his shot hooked to the left of the goal. Then, with 5:28 remaining, Griffin Abbott (Ridgewood, N.J.) made a nice move for a Hamilton shot that sailed wide right and out of play.
Dillon Kerr responded for the Camels with a nice effort on a low shot that went wide to the left side of the post.
Neither team could muster a shot in the second overtime. Connecticut College junior Zach Punt (West Hartford, Conn.) made the play of the period for the Camels when he induced a turnover and stole a ball away from a Hamilton forward with 8:15 remaining.
Connecticut College enjoyed a 27-to-11 advantage in shots and the hosts carried a 7-to-1 edge in corner kicks.
