Box Score

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--Meg Raskin (Westwood, Mass.) made 14 saves in an impressive performance between the pipes but it was not quite enough as 19th ranked Williams College was able to hold on in overtime for a 12-11 victory against Connecticut College Wednesday.

This was the third consecutive meeting between the Camels and Ephs that was decided by a single goal. Connecticut College fell to 1-3 with a 0-2 record in conference action. Williams evens its mark at 2-2 while improving to 1-2 in NESCAC play.

Williams appeared to be in control when senior attacker Bridget Malicki (Loudonville, N.Y.) scored with 16:09 remaining to put the hosts on top 9-7. But the Camels would not go away. With 13:06 to play, Hannah Donegan (Great Falls, Conn.) assisted Annie Cornbrooks (Wilton, Conn.) for a Camel scored to trim the deficit to 9-8. Then, with 10:27 remaining, Donegan rifled home the equalizer with a free position shot to even things up at nine.

After the teams exchanged goals, Donegan buried a runner with 1:25 to go to put Connecticut College on top 11-10.  But Malicki countered with a score for Williams with 56 seconds left to force the fifth and final tie of the game at 11.

Raskin had seven stops in the second stanza and made two more terrific saves in overtime. But Williams took the lead for good when senior Hillary Cook (Carlisle, Mass.) netted her fifth goal of the night with 1:12 remaining in the extra session.

Donegan and senior Taylor Thomas (Needham, Mass.) both had two goals and two assists to lead the Camels on offense.  Sophomore Tina Balzotti (Duxbury, Mass.) and Madison Barker (Boston, Mass.) scored two goals each for Head Coach Liz Longley's squad.

Heidi Halsted (Mill Valley, Calif.) corralled a game-high five ground balls to go with her goal.  Junior Maggie Hogan (Arnold, Md.) applied some nice defensive pressure and had three ground balls for the visitors.

Malicki scored three goals and assisted on three others to lead the Ephs with six-points. Cook added three ground balls and four draw controls to go with her five scores. Nancy Palmer (Lakeville, Conn.) added three scores for the winning side.
