#7 Bowdoin College 14, Connecticut College 10 Thomas Scores Three Goals for Camels

Box Score

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Junior midfielder Lindsey Picard scored four goals while Taylor Wilson (Chevy Chase, Md.) added three goals, one assist and four draw controls in leading the seventh ranked Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory at Connecticut College Sunday.

The Polar Bears improve their record to 10-2 with a 6-2 mark in conference play. The Camels move to 3-9 with a 1-7 mark in the NESCAC.

Emma Beecher (Morristown, N.J.) finished with three scores in the victory for the visitors.

Isabel Sippel (Ridgewood, N.J.) corralled all six of her saves in the second half action.

Connecticut College senior midfielder Taylor Thomas (Needham, Mass.) had three goals to lead the Camels on offense. Thomas has piled up 72 goals and 15 assists in her career and needs just 13 points to reach the century mark for offensive production. Bri Miller '13 (Sudbury, Mass.) was the last Camel to reach the triple digit barrier in 2013.

Madison Barker (Boston, Mass.) chipped in with two goals, one assist and eight draws. Hannah Donegan (Great Falls, Va.) finished with two goals.

Rookie net-minder Meg Raskin (Westwood, Mass.) had 17 saves in another strong effort between the pipes.

Picard scored two of her four goals during a 5-0 first half run, capping a rally with 8:04 remaining to put the Polar Bears on top 6-3. But Camel senior Heidi Halsted (Mill Valley, Calif.) put in a free position shot to close out the first half scoring and the visitors lead was trimmed to 7-5 at the break.

The Camels made a nice run at the start of the second half to pull ahead. Back-to-back goals from Donegan and a well-placed bounce shot from Barker with 19:35 to go put the hosts on top 8-7. But Bowdoin battled back to tie the game at nine when Wilson executed with a nifty looking spin move with 11:56 remaining.

Beecher put in a runner with 11:04 to go before Picard close out the run with 9:16 remaining to put the Polar Bears on top 12-9.

The Camels got one back when Barker assisted Cecily Cushman (Marblehead, Mass.) for a goal with 9:09 remaining but Mettler Growney (New Canaan, Conn.) and Beecher tacked on insurance markers for the visitors and Bowdoin was able to hold on for the 14-10 victory.

Connecticut College will host Farmingdale State Thursday night for a 7:00 p.m. game in New London.
