#21 Williams 3, Connecticut College 2 Elisman Dishes Out 63 Assists for Camels this Weekend

WIILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Connecticut College volleyball team dropped a pair of NESCAC matches in Western Massachusetts this weekend.

The Camels (4-3, 0-2), ranked eighth in New England, fell to #7 Amherst in a 3-0 decision Friday night with set scores of 25-17, 25-23, 25-14 in favor of the Lord Jeffs.

This afternoon, the Camels kept it close against their longtime rivals in Williamstown, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Ephs. The set scores were 25-20, 19-25, 25-8, 21-25 and 15-11 in favor of the hosts, who are the second ranked team in New England and 21st ranked team in the nation.

Senior Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) accounted for 23 kills, 33 digs, four aces and four blacks in the two conference matches to pace the Camels.  Junior Ella Johnson (Seal Beach, Calif.) chipped in with 14 kills, five blocks, three aces and four digs for Connecticut College.  Sophomore Sam Hunter (pictured with the entire Class of 2018, Palos Verdes, Calif.) buried 13 kills while adding 18 digs in the Bay State.

Senior Andrea Mullaney (New Canaan, Conn.) had 12 digs and three blocks. Freshman Jenny Kellogg checked in with 10 kills and 25 digs.  Senior libero Cailyn Straubel (Dallas, Texas) contributed with 24 digs for the Camel defense. 

Second year setter Katia Elisman (Lake Forest, Ill.) dished out 63 assists in the eight sets, averaging 7.88 helpers per set for the Camels.

Williams improved to 5-2 with a 1-1 record in the NESCAC. With their triumphs against the Camels and Tufts, the Lord Jeffs remained perfect at 7-0 with a 2-0 mark in conference action.

The Camels will visit Tufts University Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. NESCAC match in Medford, Mass
