Box Score

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Junior net-minder Margaret Draper (Belmont, Mass.) stepped off the bench to pitch a second half shutout with four saves, leading the Williams College women's lacrosse team to a 10-6 victory against Connecticut College in New London Saturday.

The visiting Ephs improved their record to 2-2, moving to 2-1 in conference play. The Camels fell to 2-3 and are 0-2 in the NESCAC.

Senior Anne Rehfuss (Latham, N.Y.) had two goals and an assist for the visitors in the win. She leads Williams with 13 points in the early season Junior Jenna Chodos (Wilmington, Del.) and sophomore Olivia Polk (St. Louis, Mo.) chipped in with two goals each for the Ephs. Katie Gallop (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist for the winning side.

Connecticut College senior Erin Moran (Lincoln, N.H.) scored three goals in the opening half of action and leads the team with 10 goals scored. Junior Hannah Donegan (Great Falls, Va.) and sophomore Annie Cornbrooks (Wilton, Conn.) both contributed with a goal and an assist. Madison Barker (Boston, Mass.) corralled a game-best nine draw controls to go with three ground balls.

Sophomore All-American Meg Raskin (Westwood, Mass.) made six saves in goal for the Camels.

Moran scored twice in the opening 7:07 of regulation to vault the Camels out to a 3-1 advantage. But Rehfuss responded for the visitors, leading the Ephs with two scores as a part of a 4-0 run over 6:39, capping the rally with a nicely placed bounce shot on an awarded free position, putting Williams on top 5-3 with 13:47 remaining in the first stanza. But the Camels scored three of the final four goals of the half and the game was tied 6-6 at the intermission.

Raskin provided the Camels with a spark when she made a terrific point-blank save to deny Emma Tenbarge (Peapack, N.J.) on her scoring bid 1:07 into the second half. But Gallop and Polk supplied scores 1:31 apart to provide the visitors with some breathing room and an 8-6 lead.  Then, with 22:40 left to play, Raskin made another clutch save, thwarting Gallop on the door step.

Micaela Dussel (Glen Head, N.Y.) scored with 18:20 remaining. Chodos tacked on a free position goal with 8:18 to go to make it a 10-6 game.

The Camels had their chances to battle back. But Draper stopped all three of their free position shots. She made a nice stab on Lacey Hale's shot with 3:30 to go.

The visitors were able to hold on for the 10-6 win.

Both teams are headed south to the Sunshine State of Florida for their next games.

Williams will play RIT Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. in Clermont, Fla. while the Camels return to action Tuesday in Clearwater with an 11:00 a.m. game against Centre College.
