#7 Middlebury College 9, Connecticut College 0 Camels Honor Kalia & Marcoux on Senior Sunday in New London

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Middlebury College women's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout victory at Connecticut College Sunday.

The seventh ranked Panthers improved their record to 11-3 with a 6-1 mark in NESCAC play. The Camels fell to 10-8 on the spring with a 1-5 mark in conference action.

Connecticut College fans celebrated the accomplishments of seniors Aneeka Kalia (Southborough, Mass.) and Charlotte Marcoux (Sudbury, Mass.).

A leader and co-captain for the Camels, Kalia is an English and Self-Designed South Asian Studies major. Ka­lia is a fellow in the Office of Career and Professional Development and a member of the Women's Empowerment Initiative.

Over the course of her collegiate playing career, Kalia has been honored with the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Scholar Athlete Award for the 2014 and 2015 seasons and with the 2015 Arthur Ashe Junior Sports Scholar Award. Kalia was the NESCAC Sportsmanship Award Recipient for the spring 2014 season.

A leader and co-captain for the Camels, Marcoux has helped lead the Camels to 10 wins in a produc­tive senior campaign. Marcoux is certified in the Green Dot program that promotes bystander intervention. She served on the Student Athletic Advisory Committee in 2013-2014.

Marcoux is entering her second year as captain with the program. A decorated scholar, Marcoux has been recognized as a Dean's Honors Student with the highest honors. Marcoux has been named to the NESCAC All-Academic Team in each of the past two years and has been honored with the ITA Scholar Athlete Award in each of the past three seasons.

In 2015, Marcoux was inducted into Psi Chi, the national honors society for psychology students. She has accepted a position as a Research Associate at Park Square Executive Search in Boston starting this summer. Marcoux will receive her degree in psychology next month.
