NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's tennis team continued to build on its strong start with two more wins today. The Camels knocked off Mount Holyoke College, 8-1, before closing out the day with their fourth straight win in a 9-0 blanking of Smith College.
The Camels improved their record to 8-2 on the spring. The Mount Holyoke Lyons are 10-7 and the Pioneers from Smith are 4-10.
Sophomore Aleksandra Drljaca (East Greenwich, R.I.) cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 straight set victory to lead the Camels in the victory against Mount Holyoke. Emily Migliorini (North Haven, Conn.) chipped in with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph at second singles. At third singles, senior Charlotte Marcoux (Sudbury, Mass.) eased past her opponent in a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Sophomore Angelica Warren (McLeansville, N.C.) prevailed in a 6-4, 6-1 decision at fourth singles. Juniors Susanna Studwell (Tucson, Ariz.) earned a 6-1, 6-4 victory at five. Mariah Warren (McLeansville, N.C.) posted a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at sixth singles for the Camels.
Angelica Warren and Migliorni notched an 8-0 shutout win at number two doubles. Mariah Warren and Brinley Bartlett (Malvern, Pa.) notched an 8-6 victory at third doubles for the Camels.
In the Smith victory, Drljaca dominated in a 6-1, 6-0 win at number one singles. Migliorni, Aneeka Kalia (Southborough, Mass.), Jill Brigandi (Harrington Park, N.J.), Bartlett and Youyang Wang (Zhengzhou, Henan Province, China) all won in convincing fashion in their respective spots from #2-6 singles.
The Warren sisters joined forces in an 8-0 blanking of the Pioneers at #1 doubles. Brigandi and Kalia recorded a shutout at number two doubles while Bartlett and Studwell blanked their opposition at three.
