Women's Soccer Caps Weekend With 3-1 Triumph Over Colby

Box Score

WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior Michelle Medina (Hartford, Conn.) factored into a goal for the third straight match in leading the Connecticut College women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Colby on Sunday afternoon at the Colby Soccer Field.

Medina put the Camels on the board in the blink of an eye when she intercepted a clear attempt by the Mule defense and lifted a shot to the upper left corner of the goal just 1:15 into the match. Even though the visitors continued to dominate play, Colby (2-2-1, NESCAC 0-2-1) evened the score before the break on a one-timed shot by Olivia Greif from eight yards out.

Connecticut College (4-0-1, NESCAC 2-0-1), however, continued to control play in the second half and scored twice to pull away. Senior Lauren Steele (Westford, Mass.) finished a pass from sophomore Sara Kogelmann (Slingerlands, N.Y.) in the 53rd minute, and senior Livi Block (New York, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted marker midway through the second frame for insurance. The Camels outshot the Mules by a count of 11-2 and had a 7-0 advantage in corner kick opportunities over the last 45 minutes to keep the hosts off the board the rest of the way.

Senior Bryanna Montalvo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up the victory between the pipes for the Camels by making one stop in just over 76 minutes of action. Colby's Dani Lonati suffered the loss despite finishing with seven saves.

Connecticut College returns home to face crosstown rival Coast Guard on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m.
