Men's Squash Blanks Bard and Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Connecticut College men's squash team swept away its competition by identical 9-0 scores on the opening day of a weekend tournament hosted by Vassar. The Camels defeated Bard as well as the host Brewers to extend their winning streak to three straight games.

In the Bard match, sophomore Michael Rodriguez (New Haven, Conn.) and freshman Alex Snape (Washington, D.C.) each went the distance and pulled out victories in five sets to help the Camels clinch the overall sweep of the Raptors. Rodriguez rallied to win the No. 3 position by set scores of 9-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-4 and 11-3, while Snape captured the No. 1 spot by set scores of 11-13, 11-4, 11-7, 6-11 and 11-8.

The Camels ended the day on a high note by sweeping Vassar without even dropping a single set. Freshman James Andrew had the most dominant victory, defeating his opponent by scores of 11-1, 11-0 and 11-0.

Connecticut College (7-7) concludes weekend play when it faces Lehigh tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m.
