NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Aleksandra Drljaca (East Greenwich, R.I.) and junior Emily Migliorini (North Haven, Conn.) each won their singles and doubles matches to help propel the Connecticut College women's tennis team to a 7-2 victory over Bentley University, a Division II institution, in its opening home dual match of the spring season on Friday evening.
Drljaca most notably rallied from behind and outlasted Bentley's Rachel Hui at the top singles position by set scores of 3-6, 6-3 and 15-13. She also teamed up with sophomore Stephanie Simon (Wellesley, Mass.) to register a convincing 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Migliorini, meanwhile, took the No. 2 singles position in three sets by scores of 6-3, 2-6 and 10-2 while also pairing with Meredith Kenny to notch an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot.
Sophomores Rachel Weiss (Great Neck, N.Y.) and Hayley Zukerberg (Newton, Mass.) also recorded convincing wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, and senior sisters Angelica Warren and Mariah Warren won No. 1 doubles by an 8-3 decision.
Connecticut College (2-0) has a quick turnaround and next hosts No. 7-ranked Bowdoin tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
