MANSFIELD, Conn. – Sophomore Marielle McEnaney (Orleans, Mass.) set up two goals and helped anchor a back line which did not yield a single shot as the Connecticut College women's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Eastern Connecticut State on Tuesday afternoon at Rick McCarthy Field.

Connecticut College (8-2), which dominated from start to finish, finally broke through in the 24th minute when sophomore Bella Patino (Kearny, N.J.) scored the first goal of her career, marking the third straight Camel to achieve the feat after freshmen Mary Parse (Orange, N.J.) and Claire Williams (Portsmouth, R.I.) notched their first career markers against UMass Dartmouth over the weekend. Patino volleyed a shot from outside the box that hit off goalkeeper Alexis Tyrrell's hands before sliding in.

Fifteen minutes later, senior Mia Santana (New London, Conn.) recorded her first goal of the season to double the margin. McEnaney, who has three assists in the last two matches, sent a cross from the left corner directly in front of the goal. Tyrell once again got a hand on the ball, but the rebound came out to Santana for a one-timer taken from the middle of the box.

In the second half, the Camels added insurance when freshman Mya Johnson (Old Lyme, Conn.) received a pass from classmate Alexa Blaney (South Hadley, Mass.) and finished in the 62nd minute. McEnaney was also credited with a helper on the play.

The Camel defense, meanwhile, remained impenetrable throughout the match and did not allow the Warriors to attempt a shot for 90 minutes. Seniors Erin O'Brien Powers (Portland, Ore.) and Sara Kogelmann (Guilderland, N.Y.) along with sophomore Emily Lorry (Wynnewood, Pa.) and McEnaney primarily protected three goalkeepers who did not have to make a save.

Junior Pelletier (Topsfield, Mass.) was credited with the victory for Connecticut College, which took 16 shots offensively, for playing the opening 45 minutes when the match was decided. Senior Sarah Williams (Sherborn, Mass.) and sophomore Lauren Jockimo (Somers, N.Y.) shared time between the posts during the second half, while Tyrrell made seven saves for Eastern Connecticut State (4-7) in her first start as a collegian.

Connecticut College returns home to face Bowdoin on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. during Fall Weekend.
