NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's squash won two of its three matches at the Pioneer Valley Invitational over the weekend. After falling to Wesleyan by a 5-4 score, the Camels recovered to edge out Hobart, 5-4, and blank Denison by a 9-0 decision.
Senior Samuel Piller (Charlottesville, Va.) led the Camels by winning all three of his matches from the No. 6 position. He most notably recorded the deciding point in the team's triumph over the Statesman by defeating his opponent by set scores of 11-5, 9-11, 11-8, and 11-4. In addition, he earned wins over his foes from Wesleyan and Denison in five marathon sets.
Classmate Mikey Rodriguez (New Haven, Conn.) also registered a perfect 3-0 record for the Camels while competing at the No. 5 spot. All three of his wins came by 3-1 decisions.
Connecticut College (7-7) will next travel to the Boston area to face Northeastern and Tufts on Saturday afternoon.
