NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis team came up short in its NESCAC opener against No. 12 Tufts by an 8-1 score on Saturday afternoon.
The Camels got their lone win at No. 1 singles, as senior Rachel Weiss (Great Neck, N.Y.) defeated Tilly Rigby by retirement. The match ended with Rigby owning a 2-1 advantage.
Junior Meredith Kenny (Scottsdale, Ariz.) played in the most competitive singles match. After winning the first set by a 6-3 score, Kiara Rose rallied to win the next two frames by final tallies of 6-0 and 10-7.
Maggie Dorr and Maddie Suk were both double winners for the Jumbos. They teamed up to down Camel sophomore Brooke Scully (Winchester, Mass.) and Kenny, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles before winning the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches, respectively.
Connecticut College (1-2, NESCAC 0-1) will next host Mount Holyoke tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
