Babson College 3, Connecticut College 1 Sanderson Supplies First Half Score for Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Caroline Malone (Walpole, Mass.) scored a pair of first half goals to lead the Babson College field hockey team to a 3-1 victory at Connecticut College Sunday.

 

The Beavers, who are receiving votes in the NFHCA National Poll, improve their record to 13-4 with their third straight win. The Camels, who are enjoying one of their best seasons in recent history, drop to 7-6.

 

Morgan Lockwood (Feeding Hills, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and an assist. She leads the visitors with 25 goals, 13 assists and 63 points.

 

Kayla Florence (Milton, Mass.) stopped six shots en route to the win.

 

Connecticut College junior Laura Sanderson (Hanover, N.H.) contributed a first half score. Jillian Dahrooge (Charlton, Mass.) assisted on the tally.

 

Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) made two saves in the loss.

 
 

Malone vaulted the visitors out to a 1-0 edge with her goal at 1:07 of the opening half. Later on in the 14th minute of action, Lockwood assisted Malone on her 15th goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game.

 

Sanderson got one back with 2:17 remaining in the first half, but Lockwood added an insurance goal 7:11 into the second stanza to put the game out of reach.

 

Babson will host Mount Holyoke College next Saturday for a 12:00 p.m. NEWMAC game. The Camels will play their final regular season game Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. versus Amherst College.
