NEW LONDON, Conn--Kelsie Fralick (West Chester, Pa.) stopped all 50 shots she faced to lead the Connecticut College women's hockey team to a 1-0 blanking of Hamilton College at Dayton Arena Saturday.
The Camels improve their record to 2-2-1 and are 1-2-1 in NESCAC play. The Continentals had their four game winning streak halted and slip to 4-2 with a 2-2 mark in conference action.
Fralick was tested early, collecting 20 saves in the opening frame. The Continentals had a two-woman advantage for 1:10 in the opening period but the Camels were able to keep the visitors off the board.
In the middle period, the visitors held a 16-to-4 advantage in shots but neither side could find the back of the net.
In the third period, Fralck denied Katie Zimmerman (Plymouth, Mich.) at the 4:30 mark on her bid for her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Fralick made two more terrific stops before the Camels got the break they needed on the power play. Molly Murphy (Woodstock, Conn.) was able to deliver a pass to Ariel DiPasquale (Whitestone, N.Y.) at the far post for the difference maker. Amanda Bogue (Glastonbury, Conn.) earned the second assist on the 26th goal of DiPasquale's career.
Hamilton emptied their net and got off one last shot from the point but Fralick slammed the door shut to close out the shutout.
Becca Hazlett (Grosse Point Park, Mich.) stopped 21 shots for the Continentals in the setback.
The Camels were a perfect 5-for-5 on their penalty kill and an impressive 12-for-13 during the two-game set with Hamilton. The Camels were also 1-for-3 on their power play.
Hamilton held a 50-to-22 advantage in shots.
