Connecticut College 3, Hamilton College 1 Upstart Camels Race Out to 3-0 Start

NEW LONDON, Conn.-Brittany Fitzgerald (Ridgefield, Conn.) had a goal and an assist to lead the Connecticut College field hockey team past Hamilton College in a 3-1 victory on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Jen Morgan (Orange, Conn.) and Ali Holland (Watertown, Mass.) chipped in with scores for the Camels, who improve their record to 3-0 with a 2-0 mark in the NESCAC.

Hamilton College junior Caroline Clarke (Larchmont, N.Y.) scored her second of the season for the visitors, who slip to 0-3 with a 0-2 mark in conference play. Kate Anderson (Wilton, Conn.) assisted on the score.

Morgan scored the equalizer as time expired in the opening half. Then, with 5:59 elapsed in the second stanza, senior Kelsey Nickerson (Weston, Mass.) assisted Fitzgerald for the goal that proved to be the difference.

Later on in the contest with 7:04 remaining, Holland added an insurance goal when she re-directed a hit coming from the right side of the circle from Heidi Halsted (Mill Valley, Calif.).

The Camels piled up 16 corners in the win, holding a commanding 18-to-3 edge in shots.

Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) made a pair of second half stops for the hosts.

Hamilton College sophomore Victoria Trentini (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) made 13 saves for the visitors.

Junior Madison Molho (St. Louis, Mo.) and sophomore Samantha Sherman (Bridgewater, N.J.) both contributed defensive saves for the Continentals.
