Ballo, Puklin & Sieverding Lead Camels to 8-1 Triumph Against Smith at Pioneer Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--The Connecticut College women's squash cruised to an 8-1 victory against Smith College in the Pioneer Valley Invitational Saturday.

The Camels also dropped a 6-3 decision to Colby as well as a pair of 9-0 decisions to Amherst College and Hamilton College.

In the triumph over Smith, the Camels won every point from #2-9 on the ladder in straight sets. Freshman Mawa Ballo (Harlem, N.Y.) secured an 11-2, 11-4, 11-4 win in the second slot on the ladder. Senior Leah Puklin (Bala Cynwyd, Pa.) coasted to an 11-5, 11-0, 11-6 win at #3.

Junior Adrienne Sieverding (Red Hook, N.Y.) won an 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 decision at four. Freshman Nina Nalle (Merion, Pa.) registered an 11-1, 11-3, 11-2 victory in the fifth slot.  Sophomore Anne Holly (York, Pa.) earned an 11-2, 11-2, 11-3 straight set victory at number six.

Freshman Allie Fuller (Providence, R.I.) won an 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 victory in the seventh slot on the ladder.  Myra Jacobs (West Wardsboro, Vt.) romped in an 11-2, 11-0, 11-2 victory at #8.  Tori Allen (Jamestown, R.I.) recorded an 11-4, 11-7, 11-7 triumph in the ninth slot for Connecticut College.

In the 6-3 loss to Colby, the Camels had some strong performances.  In the second slot on the ladder, Mawa Ballo secured a 3-2 victory, pulling out an 11-8 decision in the fifth game. At number three,  Leah Puklin posted a 3-1 win.  Tori Allen contributed with a victory at number nine, posting an 11-6, 11-4, 11-9 victory for Connecticut College.
