#4 Middlebury College 3, Connecticut College 0 Fralick Stops 32 Shots for Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The fourth ranked Middlebury College women's hockey team extended their unbeaten streak to 16 games with a 3-0 blanking of Connecticut College at Dayton Arena Saturday.

First year forward Jessica Young (Mission Hills, Kan.), senior Hannah Bielawski (Evanston, Ill.) and junior Katie Mandigo (Cornwall, Vt.) all contributed with goals for the Panthers, who won the two-game series after defeating the Camels 4-1 Friday night.

Senior net-minder Madeline Marsh (Kanata, Ont.) made 31 saves en route to the shutout, improving her mark to 9-0-2 this season.

Connecticut College senior Kelsie Fralick (West Chester, Pa.) finished with 32 saves for the Camels and had 65 saves in the two-game set for the hosts.

The Panthers improved to 16-2-3 overall while upping their conference record to 11-1-2. The Camels fell to 11-8-3 and are 6-6-2 in the NESCAC.

Middlebury enjoyed a 15-to-7 advantage on the shot chart in the opening period. With six minutes left in the first, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead.

Senior Emily Fluke (Sandwich, Mass.) made a nice centering pass to Young who buried the slapper from the slot to put the visitors on top. It was Young's 12th goal of the season and Fluke's team-leading 19th assist.

In the middle period, the Panthers extended their lead with 4:35 remaining. Bielawski was able to collect a rebound in a scrum out in front of the cage and sneak one past Fralick to the far post side of the goal. Maddie Winslow (Manchester, Vt.) assisted on the score.

In the third period, the Camels held a 12-to-6 advantage in shots. Connecticut College pulled its goalie with 4:11 remaining and applied heavy pressure on Marsh.

Senior Amelia Dineen (Arlington, Mass.) had a nice bid on a one-timer but Marsh was able to make the terrific stop to keep the Camels off the scoreboard.

In the closing moments, Mandigo closed out the win with an empty net goal, her seventh of the season and second in as many days to close out the 3-0 win.

Juniors Anna Van Kula (Radnor, Pa.) and Julia Wardwell (Marlborough, Mass.) were both credited with assists on the score.

Middlebury carried a 35-to-31 advantage in shots. The Camels were 0-for-4 on their power play while the Panthers finished 0-for-3 with the extra woman advantage.
