Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.--Senior midfielder Taylor Thomas scored her fifth goal of the night with 1:38 remaining in the second overtime to lift the Connecticut College women's lacrosse team to a 15-14 victory against Farmingdale State Thursday night.
The Camels improved their record to 4-8 with the triumph while the Rams fell to 7-5 with the setback.
Sophomore Tina Balzotti (Duxbury, Mass.) chipped in with four goals for the Camels. Mackenzie Axelson (Cohasset, Mass.) scored twice while Madison Barker (Boston, Mass.) had nine draw controls.
Megan Fahey (Scituate, Mass.) made five saves in the first half of play. Megan Mullin (Sudbury, Mass.) finished with five stops in relief duty to earn the victory.
Maggie Hogan (Arnold, Md.) collected three ground balls, to go with two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Senior Alyssa Handel (Medford, N.Y.) had five goals and an assist to lead the Rams. Christy Thoden (Bayport, N.Y.) added four goals and an assist in the loss while classmate Nicole Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y.) registered two goals and two assists in the contest.
Sophomore Krista Spagnoletta (West Islip, N.Y.) made six saves in the game.
Thomas ignited the Camels on a late game rally with unassisted goals coming 44 seconds apart to put the Camels on top 13-12. Axelson netted a free position goal with 7:09 remaining to make it a 14-12 game.
But Handel made a nice pass from behind the cage to assist Kristen Ranaldo (Commack, N.Y.) for a goal with 5:24 remaining.
Then, with 23 seconds left, sophomore Kristen Keller (Westbury, N.Y.) sprinted to the cage and flicked in the equalizer to force the extra session.
But Thomas was able to close out the victory in the second overtime with her fifth goal of the night and 77th marker of her career.
