Connecticut College 3, Mitchell College 0 Kellogg Buries Eight Kills to Lead Camels in Season Opening Triumph

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team opened its season with a 3-0 victory against Mitchell College at Luce Field House Tuesday night.

The set scores were 25-5, 25-13 and 25-12 in favor of the hosts.

Rookie outside hitter Jenny Kellogg (Los Altos, Calif.) buried eight kills to go with three digs to pave the way to the win.  Senior Caroline Martin (pictured, Palo Alto, Calif.) had four kills, three aces and two digs while sophomore setter Katia Elisman (Lake Forest, Ill.) dished out 28 assists to go along with four digs for the winning side.

Senior Cailyn Straubel (Dallas, Texas) chipped in with eight digs for the victors.

The Mariners (1-2) received six kills from senior middle blocker Amanda Garcia (New Britain, Conn.).  Senior setter Nicole Caminiti (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) had seven assists and four digs in the match.  Senior libero Kaisea Caramante (Old Lyme, Conn.) posted 10 digs to lead the Mariners defensively.

Mitchell resumes play one week from tonight with a 7:00 p.m. match at UMass-Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, Mass.

The Camels will visit Roger Williams University Friday night for a 5:00 p.m. match in the first round of the Johnson & Wales University Wildcat Invitational.
