MIDDLETOWN, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's squash team dropped a 5-4 decision to Wesleyan University in the consolation round of the 2016 NESCAC Championship at Wesleyan University Saturday.
The ninth seeded Cardinals improved their record to 5-10. The Camels slipped to 6-15 with the loss.
Sophomore Mawa Ballo (Harlem, N.Y.) secured a 3-2 win in the second slot on the ladder, battling back from an early deficit to pull out an 11-5 victory in the decisive fifth set. Aaliyah Davidson (New Haven, Conn.) cruised to an 11-7, 11-7, 13-11 win in third spot on the ladder. First year hitter Olivia Silverman (New Canaan, Conn.) posted a 3-1 victory at number four, winning with set scores of 13-11, 4-11, 11-7 and 11-6.
Sophomore Elizabeth Varoli (Katonah, N.Y.) posted an 11-8, 12-10, 12-10 straight set win in the eight slot on the ladder for Connecticut College.
