NEW LONDON, Conn.--The fourth ranked Middlebury College men's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory against Connecticut College in a NESCAC match played on the South Tennis Courts today.
The Panthers improved their record to 12-2 and remained perfect with an 8-0 record in the NESCAC. The Camels fell to 3-13 and are 0-6 in conference action this spring.
Sophomore Ethan Hecker (Wayland, Mass.) played the closest match for the Camels, falling in a 10-7 decision in the super tie-breaker to Jack Welch (Winchester, Mass.).
Connecticut College fans honored senior Jonathan Kraiger of Springfield, Vt. in a pre-match ceremony.
A leader and captain for the Camels, Kraiger has enjoyed a productive senior year at number one singles. He carried a four match-winning streak into the month of April. During his torrid stretch of play, Kraiger notched victories against the Coast Guard, Webber International University, Grinnell College and Augustana University.
Kraiger will receive his degree in economics this spring. He is planning on attending law school after graduation.
