CLINTON, N.Y.—Senior Jonathan Kraiger (Springfield, Vt.) cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 straight set victory at number one singles to lead the Connecticut College men's tennis team to a 7-2 NESCAC victory against Hamilton College Saturday.
The Camels halted their nine-game losing streak with the triumph today. They are 4-14 overall and wrap up NESCAC play with a mark of 1-7. The Continentals slipped to 5-13 and are 0-6 in conference play.
Freshman Charlie Williams (Mercer Island, Wash.) chipped in with a 6-4, 6-4 victory for the winning side. Junior Daniel Maffa (Lexington, Mass.) gutted out a victory at number three singles with a clutch 11-9 win in the super tie-breaker. Ben Sachs (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at fifth singles.
Sophomore Ethan Hecker (Wayland, Mass.) won a key match-up at number six singles with a 10-8 win in the super tie-breaker.
Kraiger and Sachs joined forces for a convincing 8-2 win at number one doubles as did Maffa and Williams in their match up at second doubles.
The Camels wrap up the 2016 season tomorrow with a match against the Bombers of Ithaca College in the Empire State.
