HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Mawa Ballo (Harlem, N.Y.) rallied from behind to win her match in four sets to help lead the Connecticut College women's squash team to a 7-2 win over Haverford on Tuesday afternoon. The Camels were also dealt a 9-0 setback by Tufts earlier in the day.
After dropping the first set by an 11-1 score, Ballo fought back at the No. 1 position to win the next three sets over her Haverford opponent by scores of 11-9, 11-5 and 11-6. She also went the distance in a five-set match against Tufts before eventually falling by set scores of 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 5-11 and 2-11.
Senior classmates Elizabeth Varoli (Katonah, N.Y.) and Allie Fuller (Providence, R.I.) were also victorious by winning in straight sets from the No. 4 and No. 8 spots, respectively, while junior Jacqueline Chu (New York, N.Y.) had a strong finish at No. 7 and won her match by scores of 11-9, 11-1 and 11-1.
Connecticut College (3-6) treks to Amherst College over the weekend and will first face St. Lawrence on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10:00 a.m.
