NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's squash team split its opening matches of the winter over the weekend. After falling to Amherst by a 9-0 score, the Camels rebounded to post a 9-0 win over Boston University.
Senior Margaret Davey (Groton, Mass.) crushed her opponent from Boston University at the top spot, winning by set scores of 11-1, 11-0, and 11-2. Sophomore Lili Vazquez (Chicago, Ill.) was almost equally as dominant by sweeping Gaby Kuntz at the No. 6 position by marks of 11-1, 11-3, and 11-1, while senior Mikayla Waterhouse (Scarsdale, N.Y.) also had an impressive win at No. 7 with 11-3, 11-2, and 11-1 set victories.
The best effort against Amherst arguably came from junior Denise Bonilla (Amherst, Mass.). She dropped her match against Lauren Weil at No. 3 by scores of 11-4, 11-3, and 11-5.
Connecticut College (1-1) will next trek to Vassar on Saturday, Nov. 23 to face the host school as well as Haverford.
