Benjamin Parens ‘18 was the most dominant faceoff specialist in Connecticut College men’s lacrosse program history.
A three-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American, Parens became the first Camel in program history to earn first team All-America honors in 2016 and then repeated the feat a year later. He was a three-time All-NESCAC selection and two-time Nike Specialist of the Year, and he remains the program's all-time leader in ground balls (475) and faceoff wins (853). A two-year team captain and Anita L. DeFrantz Award winner (awarded to the top male athlete of the senior class), he led the team to a national ranking in 2018, the program’s first in five years.
A member of the Peggotty Investment Club during his time on campus, Parens was named a USILA Scholar All-America and New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Academic All-Region selection in 2018. A three-time NEILA All-New England and two-time IMCLA All-North Region honoree, he was selected to play in the North/South Senior All-Star Game.
Parens graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Government and Economics in 2018, before being drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse supplemental draft. Following a stint with the Chesapeake Bayhawks, he worked as an associate in the New York offices for AlphaSights, before moving to San Francisco to launch AlphaSights’ first venture capital team on the West Coast. He currently serves on the leadership team as Head of Brand for a health-tech startup in Santa Monica, California.
