Jen Fulcher ’89 stood out as a three-sport varsity letter winner and one of the most well-rounded Connecticut College student-athletes of her era. She was an impact player in women’s soccer, basketball, and lacrosse throughout her tenure at Conn, setting numerous records along the way.
As a forward on the soccer team, Fulcher led the squad to an ECAC Championship in 1989 and a top-10 national ranking. She finished her career on the pitch as the program leader in both goals and assists and the record holder with four scores in a single game. On the hardwood, she led the team to a NIAC Championship in 1989 and graduated as the program’s leader in single season and career three-point field goals. As a member of the lacrosse team, Fulcher capped her collegiate career with another NIAC Champions in the spring of 1989. She served as a co-captain for both soccer and lacrosse, and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large team as a result of her success across multiple sports.
Fulcher graduated in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in government. She received her master’s degree in athletic counseling from Springfield College in 1994 before embarking on a highly successful collegiate coaching career. Following a two-year stint as women’s basketball coach at Elms College, she moved on to Middlebury College to lead both the women’s basketball and soccer programs to their first-ever NCAA berths. Fulcher compiled an outstanding 79-23 career record as head basketball coach from 1994-98, guiding her teams to an ECAC Championship and three NCAA Tournament appearances. She found similar success with the women’s soccer program, recording a record of 29-15-3 and making a run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1997.
Since 1989, Fulcher has worked in several capacities at Williston Northampton School, a college preparatory institution in Massachusetts. She coached numerous sports and won multiple titles at Williston, and she led the girls’ lacrosse team to a #1 ranking in New England among all prep schools while amassing a career record of 156-16-1. While at Williston she has also worked as an advisor, teacher, and coordinator of student affairs, as well as in her current role as Director of the Middle School.
